A fin plate heat exchanger is a form of compact heat exchanger consisting of a block of alternating layers of corrugated fins and flat separators known as parting sheets. The corrugations serve both as secondary heat transfer surface and as mechanical support against the internal pressure between layers.
Material options
fin plate heat exchangers are made with various materials.
Tubes- Carbon steel, stainless steel 304, admiralty, 10-90 copper-nickel alloy, 30-70 copper-nickel alloy or other available commercial materials desired by the customer. Stainless steel and copper and nickel alloys are used at temperatures above 500 °C.
Shell
Fins- Aluminum, Coated aluminum or nickel Due to low density, high thermal conductivity and high strength at low temperatures. Most aluminum alloys lose their mechanical strength at temperatures higher than ambient temperature.
Shell and bonnets- A full range of carbon steels or any weldable and available commercial material desired by the customer
